The Workshop - Work with your personal digital imagery
Wayne’s current techniques using wax and digital imagery are a culmination of experimenting with materials for art making. Combining a variety of media has always been part of his approach to creating and expanding an idea into a new direction. This workshop will be a mixed media approach to working with your own digitally printed images and encaustic paint. Student’s photographic images will be printed before the workshop on Japanese papers by Wayne, and brought to Mexico for you to work with. To add to the mix we will include mark making, India ink, collage, acrylic paint, powdered charcoal, pencil, and more. In addition, glass will be introduced as a surface to work on (with/ or without encaustic paint)! This will be an exciting adventure, learning new techniques for your imagery.

Encaustic Studio - A studio designed for encaustic including ventilation, tall working tables, chairs, standing mats, griddles, brushes, heat guns, and more.

Tea and coffee available for when you need a break, upper garden patio with mountain views
Meet up the evening before the workshop begins at a rooftop Tapa bar. Self catering drinks, we will supply the appetizers.. Around 5pm, sunset colors of San Miguel!
Healthy lunches served each class day on the lower garden patio
Four full days of classroom instruction, various substrates supplied. You will complete several pieces on wood and one on glass.
Wayne prints your own images on handmade papers and brings them to San Miguel.
